UK citizens buying a property in Spain have to exchange Sterling Pounds for Euros. If you use your high street bank you will pay not only an uncompetitive exchange rate but also a commission too. Therefore we strongly advise that you use a specialst exchage rate broker who will get you a good exchange rate and will not charge you any commission. This will save you thousands on a typical Spanish property purchase.
However in our 21 year experience of selling properties in Spain we know that the exchange rate brokers will offer different rates at the same point in time because they do their forward buying of foreign currencies at different times and in different amounts. Therefore we recommend that you get quotes from say three different brokers in order to get the most competitive rate which will save you the most.
