The Region of Murcia has a network of theatres and auditoriums, whose main aim is to spread and build on the cultural habits related to the performing arts (theatre, music and dance). For this purpose, a regular circuit has been set up which, in collaboration with the Town Councils involved in the scheme, organises performances by professional companies and groups of contrasting styles. As well as this, through this network, members are encouraged to produce shows, organise tours and artistic exchanges, and, at a regional level, coordinate with the other existing members, as well as, at a national level, create links with the Spanish Network of Theatres, Auditoriums and Performing Tours.
The theatres which exist in the Region of Murcia at present were built, in the great majority of cases, at the end of the 19th Century or beginnings of the 20th, and have been renovated and adapted to comply with the theatrical demands of modern times.
