The beautiful small Andalucian town of Alora is a typical white-washed village offering a taste of a traditional Spanish lifestyle. Alora basks in sunshine for around 325 days a year and offers the best of inland living with the convenience of the coast close by.  The town has shops, tapas bars & restaurants all within easy walking distance and there is a station with daily trains into Malaga and the Costa de Sol. Malaga airport is only a 45 minute drive and the beautiful lakes and mountains at El Chorro can be reached in 30 minutes.

The town is a maze of whitewashed houses and steep, cobbled streets lined with lemon trees. All routes meet at the town square, which is overlooked by the 17th century church of La Encarnación.

Nestled between three rocky spurs and topped by the ruins of a magnificent Phoenician castle, the village has a long and fascinating history. It was the temporary home of Cervantes – one of the world’s most important literary
figures - and is reputed to be the home of Malagueño flamenco.

To the north of the town you´ll find the stunning blue waters of the Andalucian ´lake district´ of El Chorro – a must visit attraction for water sports fans and a favourite picnic and sunbathing spot. Travel 30 minutes south and you reach the historic coastal city of Malaga (Costa de Sol) with its many monuments and places of interest.

The entire area is surrounded by lush countryside and Alora's economy is based on the cultivation of tropical fruits, olives and grape vines.

Alora is situated off the road to Antequerra, just 30 minutes inland from Malaga airport. There is a train station outside the town linking Alora to Malaga on the Costa de Sol and the property is also within easy driving distance of Granada airport.

This property is situated at the heart of the village close to banks, shops, tapas bars, restaurants, squares and many places of historic interest. Residents enjoy a varied lifestyle with plentiful leisure facilities in the surrounding area. The region is popular for bird watching, horse riding, trekking and biking as well as water sports at El Chorro lakes.

Monday is market day when the small town becomes a bustle of shoppers. The area has a busy social calendar with a flamenco festival held every June and the festival of `Romería de la Virgen de las Flores´ in September. This is one of the best places to enjoy the traditional verdiales singing and dancing, which originated in the area.
