Posted on Thursday, 12 April 2018 08:39AM by Expats living in Spain can now make their UK Wills in Spain without having to make a return visit. Many UK expats who now live in Spain may need to make a new Will because their circumstances have changed. A new grandchild, a new property, a loss of a partner or a re-marriage all mean there is a need for a new Will.

Legal Will Writers offer a service professional and inexpensive service to include a free initial consulation and either a home visit or instructions can be taken by email/telephone. A draft Will is first sent for your approval after which you receive the final bound version. Wills can be drafted to comply with either English Law (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or Scottish Law.

Legal Will Writers have an office in Alicante and are members of the Society of Will Writers and Estate Planning Practionioners and adhere to their code of conduct and Charter.

Since August 2015 owners of Spanish properties no longer need to make a separate Spanish Will to cover their Spanish property as the new EU directive will became law last year allows their UK Will to cover their Spanish property with regard to the English (or Scottish) laws of succession.

PLEASE NOTE: Under UK law an executor or trustee can be anyone you choose to appoint. It does not have to be a solicitor and some in the legal profession seek to be appointed as executors & trustees in order to charge fees on the estate during probate. The duties of an executor/trustee can be carried out easily by a trusted family member or friend and can be one or more of the beneficiaries. In limited cases is it necessary to appoint a professional executor/trustee and you should consider using one of the non profit making organisations rather than greedy solicitors.
